Bloody race riots erupted in Washington D.C.; Tulsa, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and other citiies. In Chicago, the rioting lasted for two weeks. It all started, because returning soldiers saw African Americans as a threat that would prevent them from returning to their old jobs. Marcus Gravy would start the Universal Negro Improvement Association in order to combat the prejudice, and violence against African Americans.
