The war of Japan was fought between the Empire of Russia and the Empire of Japan. This was based of the want for dominance of Korea, Manchuria, & water and trade routes. Nicholas II fought and lost this war. This showed russian weakness. The loss also creating dissent among people. Many strikes and marches also took place. This created so much chaos that the liberals called for a constitution and overhaul of the government.
