1 gen 1516 anni - Beginning of the Protestant Reformation
Descrizione:
The Protestant Reformation was a movement during the 16th century that began with the publishing of Martin Luther's 95 theses, which outlined Luther's issues with the Catholic Church's teachings and actions, and specifically spoke out against the selling of indulgences — pieces of paper by which citizens could supposedly buy their way into Heaven. Luther's and other's ideas spread and eventually caused a group of people, now called Protestants, to split from the Roman Catholic Church.
In order to help smooth the transition from a Roman Catholic dominated Europe to one containing a large Protestant population as well, the Peace of Augsburg was signed, which allowed monarchs to adopt either Protestantism or Catholicism and implement that religion within their state.
