1 gen 1783 anni - Trade in Asia starts
Descrizione:
In the early 17th century the British East India Company founded trading posts in the East Indies, in what today are Indonesia, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. These trading stations grew into settlements, and the trading companies, especially the East India Company, had enormous power, primarily economic power but also political, judicial and military power. Competition for the lucrative trade in spices and tea was fierce, especially with the Netherlands and France, but Portugal and Spain also played important roles.
