3 marzo 2022 anni - (NORWAY) The Conservatives want hydrogen trains in Norway: – Sees large quantities ordered in Europe

Descrizione:

On Thursday 3 March, the Conservative Party submitted a proposal to the Storting on a commitment to hydrogen trains in Norway.

The five Conservative MPs will present a number of proposals to the Government, including:
- To obtain an updated knowledge base for the use of hydrogen trains in Norway.
- To assess which stretch is best for inserting hydrogen trains
- Assessing how rail supply value chains can become part of an export market
- The regulations for safeguarding energy carriers such as hydrogen and ammonia must be updated for rail running material.

In the report NULLFIB I from 2019, the Norwegian Railway Directorate concluded that part electrification and battery operation were preferable on non-electrified train lines in Norway. The reason for this was, among other things, that hydrogen operation would be three times more expensive than battery.

Actors from the hydrogen industry and the Sintef research centre were among those who claimed that hydrogen was priced too expensive in the NMA's report.

Last year, then-Prime Minister Erna Solberg announced that five hydrogen hubs would be established in Norway. Eskeland believes that Bodø, with its planned hydrogen ferries, can be a natural hydrogen hub where the Nordland Line can also be connected.

The Rauma Line may also be an option for the roll-out of hydrogen trains, according to Eskeland. Private actors have recently taken the initiative to investigate the possibility of putting freight trains on hydrogen.
