If you’re hoping to walk the tunnels every day again, think again — sources have said that it is unlikely that these tunnels will ever open publicly again, and instead, the most likely plan would involve a totally new tunnel construction.
Today, the tunnels are mostly used for wiring and pipes. Pipes and wiring that run through the tunnels include: chilled water supply and return (for AC), domestic water supply, telephone lines, the energy management system, CO-AX cable TV and fiber optic phone cables, and the emergency feed for generators. To keep this information secure, Carleton generally does not allow visits to the tunnels.
