Lovell and the two Stafford brothers had been supporters of Richard III. They simultaneously attempted to raise forces against Henry in North Riding, Yorkshire and the Midlands. Lovell escaped but Humphrey was caught and executed and the other brother pardoned. It showed there was little enthusiasm for a rebellion in the Yorkshire heartlands. It was very early in the reign, so there was potential problems as he was not fully established yet.
