Railway: Toyota delivers its hydrogen modules to the FCH2Rail project. Dedicated to the development of dual-mode electric-hydrogen trains, the Spanish FCH2Rail project has just received a first batch of fuel cells supplied by Toyota. Initiated in January 2021 in Spain and partly financed by the FCHJU fund, the FCH2RAIL (Fuel Cell Hybrid Power Pack for Rail Applications) project aims to implement a hybrid solution capable of running on hydrogen on railroads not equipped with catenaries. As a partner in the program, Toyota will supply 6 fuel cell modules for the next phase of the project. The demonstrator, a CIVIA electric commuter train built by CAF, is supplied by Renfe, the Spanish national railway company.
