starts out at night, while everyone is off setting up camp, maire has been worrying about what alys said and what it might mean
so while everyone is busy that night, she sneaks off to see charlie
maybe she's had a chat with ada about the note she got, she shows it to her, and ada says that that's charlie's handwriting, not james's
maire is surprised a six year old has such neat handwriting, but she supposes he hasn't got much else to do
she goes to see him and he's ... odd
he's very cryptic, won't look her in the eyes, keeps curling up on himself
she asks him about the note, he shrugs and says he didn't know what else to do
maia is there, maybe sika, too, idk
maia's all 'don't upset him' and holds him and stuff
charlie says that he's seen the shadow beasts, and maire is shocked, bc other than what she may or may not have seen and what alys said, it seems no one else knows about them
she asks him what it looked like, where he saw it if he's been stuck in his tower
he shakes his head and taps his head and says he saw it in his dreams, and he saw jos dying, too, torn apart by one of the wolves (which happens, but in like, three years or so) or smth
maire is shocked and confused and runs away
don't really feel like sika fits in, but also dk how to relate him back to charlie and co.
charlie also mentions people disappearing and a man on a cross
maybe charlie also tells her to seek out sika at the university (for the autopsy and stuff)
