Under the authority of Section 37 of the Immigration act (of 9 & 10 Edward VII) (authority of Governor in Council to make regulations), it is declared that no immigrant of Asiatic origin can enter Canada "unless in actual personal possession in his or her own right of 200 dollars" unless they are native of or subject of a country where Canada has special statutory regulations or a special treaty/agreement/convention.
