3 apr 1939 anni - Italian Invasion of British Somaliland
Descrizione:
Conquest of British Somaliland involved a force of 24,000 Italian troops from Italian East Africa.
With roughly 4,000 British and Somalilander troops, the British tried to defend their colony protectorate.
The British and Italian forces fought for approximately two weeks throughout the invasion.
The British troops were forced to abandon the port of Berbera with the support of the British Royal Navy after the Italians won a significant victory in the Battle of Tug Argan.
The British defeat was a controversial one. It heightened tensions between both the theatre commander, General Archibald Wavell, his staff, and Prime Minister Halifax.
