Adolf Tolkachev was an electronics engineer in the Soviet Union. After the persecution of his wife's parents by Joseph Stalin, Tolkachev began to dislike his home country. This would lead Tolkachev to approach American diplomats and CIA agents, trying to help them by giving them important information. The CIA took him in as an agent and he was very good at his job. He was so good that he would later be known as the 'billion dollar spy', because he saved America over $1 billion. However, in 1985, a CIA agent that was planning on meeting up with Tolkachev was caught by the KGB, and information about Tolkachev's espionage was found. He was executed the next year for being a spy.
