In the beginning, the Persians worshiped various gods until the prophet and teacher Zoroaster came in 600 bce. He introduced many changes in the religion and life of the Persians. Zoroaster proclaimed that Ahura Mazda (Lord Creator); (Supreme Wise) is the only God who sustains the universe. He also proclaimed that human beings are given the right to choose and are responsible for the consequences of their choices. Everlasting life can be achieved by those who prefer goodness rather than wickedness.
