June 6 1944 the Allied powers were finally able to defeat Germany and its army. Not only is D-day significant because of the Allied victory, but it was also one of the biggest military operation by air, land, and sea ever to be executed. The invasion of Normandy was supposed to be a surprise to the Germans, but they had already been informed of their plans and were all ready to fight when the Allied powers arrived. This victory led to the closing of concentration camps, since Germany was in control of allied powers they were able to begin going through France and other European countries liberating camps.
