Johnny Depp returned to the stage in Berlin on Monday night to put on an energetic performance with his band the Hollywood Vampires after shocking fans with his pale and gaunt appearance over the weekend.

Despite having his well-being questioned by fans who said he looked 'sick' and 'weak' in a handful of recent photographs, Depp, 54, was in high spirits as he performed at the Zitadelle Museum in Berlin.

With a healthy application of his signature eyeliner and no hat to hide the remains of his hair (he shaved the sides last year), Depp posed for photographs backstage and was pictured smiling as he arrived at the venue smoking a dark brown cigarette.

Earlier, a source close to the star told DailyMail.com that despite his drastic appearance which was laid bare in photographs over the weekend, the star was in good health and there was no cause for the widespread concern.

On Saturday, photographs emerged of Depp in which he appeared somewhat frail.
