The Thawri (Arabic: الثوري‎) Madhhab was a short lived school of Islamic Jurisprudence. Its founder was Sufyan Al-Thawri, a great 8th century scholar, jurist, sufi and hadith compiler.

Abu Abdullah Sufyan ibn Said ibn Masruq al-Thawri (Arabic: أبو عبد الله سفيان بن سعيد بن مسروق الثوري‎; 716–778) was a Tābi‘ al-Tābi‘īn Islamic scholar, jurist, Salafi, and founder of the Thawri madhhab. He was also a great hadith compiler (muhaddith) and was known as one of the ‘Eight Ascetics.
