The Xinhai Revolution began with the Wuchang Uprising on October 10, 1911 and ended with the abdication of Emperor Puyi on February 12, 1912. It forged China from a monarchy into a nation under the idea of socialism, which leads to a more westernized country, slowing becoming the China it is today. This revolution brought in the idea of democracy, which gave Chinese men freedom. Ending the rule of the Manchus did give China a new government, but also brought disadvantages, for instance the lose of territory. Mongolia declared independence from China resulting in the failure of not being able to unify China as a whole under the new ruler. Another major effect of this revolution was the rise of Maxism. The Chinese Communist party started to slowly evolve into a major governmental party, opposing Kuomintang, which then lead to the Chinese civil war. A factor of the revolution was the strive to improve working class conditions, which did get a major improvement after the revolution as a quite positive effect. The working class in China got a boost in their living and working conditions.
