1 gen 1944 anni - Bretton Woods Agreement Act
Descrizione:
The Bretton W. Agreement Act was the result of a conference between 40 countries, under the big influence of the USA, which decided upon the creation of an "International Monetary Fund" (IMF) and the "World Bank".
These were ideas first thought about by Keynes (UK) and White (US).
The IMF is a common fund where countries contributed gold or currency convertible to gold - effectively dollars (25%) & their own currencies (75%).
The fund was then charged with managing the nations' trade deficits so that they would not produce devaluations that would limit imports by lending liquidity.
The World Bank would lend money on private markets at low-interest rates and thus stimulate private investments.
Keynes wasn't completely satisfied with the results as he thought that the US Interests prevailed.
