UK's government collapsed and was then replaced by the National Government as fear was quickly spreading in England.
At the end pressures were too much to handle and Britain decided to take the sterling off gold and devalue it for the first time since 1717. This led to many other countries leaving the gold standard (Scandinavian & Baltic States, Japan, Latin America)
They also started imposing trade barriers and negotiating special preferences for the empire and a few favored trading powers.
