Once Khan Maqsud Shah's died in 1930, the governor of Xinjiang, Jin Shuren, replaced the khanate with three normal provincial administrative districts Hami, Yihe, Yiwu and immediately raised taxes and opened Kumul to Han Chinese immigrants.
