Descrizione:
Armed uprising in Western Massachusetts and Worcester in response to a debt crisis among the citizenry and in opposition to the state government's increased efforts to collect taxes both on individuals and their trades. The fight took place mostly in and around Springfield during 1786 and 1787.
Demonstrated how useless/weak the Articles of Confederation were. Revising began, ended up throwing the entire document out and writing the Consitution
Northerners scared of working class rising up
Southerners scared of slaves rising up
Caused by: Economic policy; Aggressive tax and debt collection; Political corruption and cronyism (awarding jobs and other advantages to friends or trusted colleagues)
