james finds wiliam in church, praying
he brings him to high ward where they meet kano at the brothel, smoke for a bit, and then james goes up to see one of the girls
wiliam cheers him on
only, it's andie, bc james is in need of some motherly love
she asks him how his addictions are going, he thinks about isabella and tells her it's going horribly
she gives him a pamphlet handed out by the fox's men, it's a crude drawing of james fucking isabella
james is about to have a minor meltdown, so he crumples it up and throws it across the room, and andie has to calm him down
he pulls out a smoke, andie looks at him just so, so he hands it over to her
they hug it out and he tells her about the king, says she can't say a word about it to anyone
then he finally leaves, he goes downstairs to see wiliam and kano
they ask him what they're gonna do, he tells them they're gonna go see the fox
kano takes them to low ward, the underground tunnels running under the ward
here, there's a meeting in progress, they listen in, people are getting all hot and bothered, kano keeps suggesting they should get outta there, but wiliam insists they stay
afterwards, james approaches the orator and introduces himself
he asks if this man is the one they call the fox
the man grins and says that it's a nickname he still hasn't gotten used to, and he introduces himself as george or smth
the twist here is that the real fox is actually dead, killed a year ago by maire, and this man is maybe like, his reanimated corpse controlled by vorr through isabella or SMTH idrk
he's dead, i know that much, and now he's back, but not really
anyways, they chat about politics and have a drink
foxy is very against institutionalised religion, wiliam gets his knickers in a twist bc he's a religious fanatic, james calms him down
foxy starts talking about how they'll need to cut down the problem of the city at its roots, to remove all the corruption and sin and stuff
this, naturally, leads james to think that he's the one killing all the people
they also talk about the tunnels, and foxy says that they're haunted by the ghosts of those trapped in the walls and in the flodd (or whatever that name is)
james and co eventually leave, james and wiliam go back to the palace to go to the camp thingy and watch the stars
