1 gen 780 anni - Trans-Saharan Trade starts

Descrizione:

Very important: gold trade. Traders from the Saharan city-states Sijilmasa and Tahert realize they can trade salt with Berbers in southern Sahara for gold, which they made into gold coins. Very lucrative

Berbers (pastoral north africans) traded salt with west africans for gold. This gold was then bought by cities and made them very rich. An example would be the city state Tahert, which minted lucrative gold coins. Sijilmasa is another city-state famous for profiting off of this trade.
