31 dic 1884 anni - The Berlin Conference

Descrizione:

(Term 4) The Berlin Conference was a meeting between the major European powers that preceded the Scramble for Africa. In the meeting, they decided the boundaries that would divide Africa and the rules for who would get which territories.

1. Because of the colonization of new nations that were becoming available to the world because of events like the Berlin Conference, missionaries could travel to new places and teach natives about the gospel.

2. Natives could trade fresh material in Africa with the rare goods that foreigners brought. This benefited both sides (unless the foreigners were stealing and taking material from the land).

3. Resources were used and spent more efficiently. Before the Berlin Conference and Scramble for Africa, the natives used very little of Africa's expansive land and resources. After more people started traveling to Africa for trade, the land began to be used to its full extent.
