A large way that Britain controlled the colonial economics was controlling the use of money. They were forced to use all of their gold and silver to pay for imports from Britain that exceeded the colonial exports. This then led to increase in the use of paper money which often led to inflation. They also vetoed any acts that may have harmed British merchants.
