Over the course of 2 years, Republicans controlled the presidency and both houses of Congress. Congress was very active as they passed the purse billion-dollar budget and U.S history. One of these was the Sherman Silver purchase act of 1890. This act increased the coinage of silver, it did not do enough to satisfy farmers and to miners.
