9 sett 1929 anni - Arthur Holmes suggested that convection cutrrents could move the plates and continents around the Earth during Continental Drift.
Descrizione:
Holmes thought that convection that dealt with heat and the upward flow of magma from Earth could force a continent apart and move it. He said that when heated, parts of the mantle subducted (one plate slides below another) and sank back down into the mantle. Other parts of the mantle, when cooled, rose towards the crust through subduction zones.
