A group of blood hungry democratic republicans from frontier states such as Kentucky, Tennessee and Ohio became known as Warhawks because their eagerness for war with Britain. Being led by henry clay and John Calhoun they argued that American honor would be defended and control of Canada would be obtained which would be great for Americans.
