Dorothea Dix-
Dorothea Dix was asked to teach Sunday school in a local prison and was shocked at the horrible living conditions of the prisoners.
She found out that the mentally ill were in the same cells as robbers and murderers, so
she brought better living conditions to prison and is responsible for removing the mentally ill from prison and put them into new mental hospitals.
