This Doctrine further strengthened the U.S. role as the world's policeman by authorizing the president to send military forces to the Middle East to combat communist aggression. This Act was used to send 14,000 marines to Lebanon after an anti American government took over in Iraq. Therefore, this furthered and reinforced an aggressive and interventionist foreign policy.
