The long-term impacts of the decisions of Ida Mae and her family was positive. Ida Mae and her family may have went through so much but, she always found a way to make way and make the best of certain situations. With her wisdom and memories of her life that kept her abroad, Ida Mae and her family continued to live out things the best way she knew how. In the novel "The Warmth of Other Suns" Wilkerson states," She put the disappointments in a lockbox in the back of her mind and lived in the moment, which is all anybody has for sure. She had learned long ago, when things were so much harder in the Old Country she left behind, that, after all she had been through, every day to her was a blessing and every breath she took a gift."(Wilkerson 525) Wilkerson basically gave the audience a greenlight to Ida Mae and how her decisions was impactful to her family in so many ways and so important to her evolution as a character throughout the book.
