(October, 1998)The conditions in the North and West toward the end of the migrant's life was very emotional. The migrant heavily went into depth of how the emotions were rekindled because of the thing she witnessed in the past. Good or bad, Ida Mae explained how the impact of her journey in the North was a life-changing in a way but, still kind of had its many flaws at the same time. In the novel "The Warmth of Other Suns" Wilkerson states ,"There had been sickness, disappointment, premature and unexpected losses, and, among their children, more divorces than enduring marriages, but at least the children had tried. The three who had come out of the South were left widowed but solvent, and each found some measure of satisfaction because whatever had happened to them, however things had unfolded, it had been of their own choosing, and they could take comfort in that."(Wilkerson 524) Wilkerson explains how the North and West changed and evolved along with Ida Mae of her life.
