Descrizione:
Labor Problems: Open shop; Welfare capitalism (WXT) – In the 1920s, unions and their power began to decline. Jobs were offered on the basis that employees would not join labor unions . This practice became known as “open shop” . another tactic businesses were using to limit the amount of employees that were a part of unions was called “welfare capitalism”. This practice , done by companies, would offer higher wages and more benefits to the job so that employees didn't feel the need to join labor unions. There were some other, less systematic options that some businesses looked into so that labor unions would not be as strong. In the South specifically, there was violence against labor unions who would congregate or strike and the state militia, police, and local mobs would be used to implore this violence. These were the labor problems at the time.
