1 gen 1906 anni - Theodore Roosevelt’s square Deal: Consumer protection: Pure Food and Drug Act, Meat Inspection Act

Descrizione:

One of the Muckrakers books explains the awful conditions at a meat packing industry in Chicago. The details of the article written on the industry became so popular and affected the opinions of so many that Congress had to enact regulatory laws to protect the people. The first law was the Pure Food and Drug Act which did not allow the company two mislabel food and drugs. The second law is the Meat Inspection Act which required federal inspectors to inspect the companies working conditions to ensure industries have proper sanitation rules.

Primary Source: This political cartoon shows Theodore Roosevelt pouring his antitrust and other legislations into The Business Prosperity pump. This demonstrates his commitment as a progressive to put an end to unlimited power of big businesses, trusts, and corporations and pass policies to benefit the middle class as well as lessen the gaping socio-economic divide.
