Towards the end of May in 1940, Germany was gaining lots of ground in France and was successful at pushing out many of the Allies’ militaries out of the country. At a port in Dunkirk, France, the armies fought a last ditch effort to stop the German’s but ultimately failed at keeping a hold on the country. Great Britain worked with the men there and were able to evacuate some 338,000 soldiers on boats out of the country.
