Judging by the data I have collected, the activity of the Kon-
trrazvedka bore a centralized character only when the army was
on the move and only in cases of relatively small Makhnovist for-
mations, such as the 3rd Brigade of the Zadneprovsky Division in
the spring of 1919 which was the nucleus of the Insurgent Army,
or the Special Army Group SRPU(m) in 1920.
