FDR's New Deal included the establishment of the Fair Labor Standards Act which provided a minimum wage of 40 cents an hour and a forty hour workweek for employees in businesses engaged in interstate commerce. The significance of this Act is that it set in place the idea of a minimum wage and a 40 hour work week for workers in the U.S. Also, it signified that big labor such as the AFL and the CIO were a significant force in American politics moving forward.
