When ercercerc was renovating Jungle Island, Unukki was able to grab a sugar cane that ercercerc had accidentally dropped. Unukki then began growing sugar cane the day he bought his plot. On April 20, Unukki sold 33 paper to Sem0mmes for 55 iron nuggets telling Sem0mmes that he had found the paper in the lost and found chest and was selling it for a discount price. Mango_Toast then discovered that Unukki had sugar cane on his plot by using the lag strat that Sky Sailors used to originally get to Cookie Island. Boone quickly confiscated the sugar cane after discovering about the incident; however, the transaction betwen Sem0mmes and Unukki was not refunded.
There was some controversy about the confiscation considering that Boone had not confiscated previous monopolies such as the Sky Sailors' spruce monopoly and the GhostRidare twisting vine monopoly. Unukki asked Boone to give the sugar cane back promising to use the sugar cane for private use only, but Boone declined the offer. This controversy brought up discussion on monopolies and how the monopolies and the people behind the monopolies should be handled. Boone decided he would crack down on any future monopolies to prevent them from spreading and destroying the queue economy.
