In Anatolia, a marked dearth of food is revealed by the clay tablet RS 18.38 (dated to the late 13th century BCE) that mentions grain shipments from the fertile lands of Egypt toward the Hittite Kingdom3 (Turkey). Hattusa, the capital, relied on grain imports during its last century of existence.
