The Battle of Okinawa was the last major battle of WW2. The invasion was part of Operation Iceberg, a Allied plank to take the Ryukyu Islands. It resulted in an Allied victory, but both sides sustained major casualties. Japans Kamikaze pilots took many American lives during the invasion. Okinawa was the last line of defense for the Japanese.
