The Native Americans came to the americas about 20.000 years ago from Asia through the so called Beringa Land bridge, which a postpoluted route of human migration from Asia to the Americas. Scientist know this because of DNA research.
The Native Americans lived in teepees, and the Buffalo hunt was very important. The buffalo didn’t only provide mans food, but it was used to supply the needs of the Native Americans.

Some examples:
• Buffalo provided the people's main food - buffalo liver, brain and nose gristle were a treat, eaten raw.
• Dried buffalo meat, called pemmican, provided food to eat through the winter.
• Buffalo bones provided marrow to eat.
• Buffalo bones were also carved to make knives, and boiled to make glue.
• Buffalo skin could be used to make tipis, clothes, moccasins, bedding, parflèches, saddle covers and water-bags.
• Dried buffalo dung provided fuel for fires.
• Buffalo horns and hooves were made into cups.
• Buffalo sinews were used as bowstrings and thread.
• Buffalo fat was used as soap.
• The rough tongue of a buffalo could be used as a hairbrush.
• The tail of a buffalo could be used as a fly-swat.

The Native Americans lived in tribes (Cherokee, Navajo, Alongquin). Between those tribes conflicts occurred sometimes. Slavery was also an issue within those tribes, think about people they held captive after war. The Native Americans were excellent farmers and they highly respected the land as part of their spirituality.

The Spanish arrived in the New World in 1521.
