Sadegh Ghotbzadeh, who was Foreign Minister of Iran during the American hostage crisis, was put to death in Teheran late Wednesday. He was 46 years old.

The Teheran radio said he was executed by a firing squad in Evin Prison after having been convicted by an Islamic court of plotting to kill Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, his former mentor and protector, and to establish a secular government.

Mr. Ghotbzadeh, who became a familiar figure on American television screens during the hostage crisis, was the highest ranking Iranian revolutionary to fall victim to the fundamentalist Moslem leaders of the revolution that toppled the last government to be appointed by Shah Mohammed Riza Pahlevi in February 1979.
