rredr established the rules for the SMP very late into its life, the rules being as thus:

RULES
Strike system:
This server works on a 2 strike system. If you break a rule you'll get 1 strike and you will be forced to work in the gulag. Once you get 2 strikes, you are banned.

The gulag:
After being caught breaking a rule, you will be forced to work in the gulag (you'll become a mining slave) for about a week. You cannot go offline for the full week in the gulag otherwise it will be delayed to the next.

Basic rules:
1. Stealing things from people's chest is strictly prohibited, if you are caught going though someone's chest without their knowledge you could be banned. This includes 'borrowing' items from people's chest and returning them without their permission.
2. Using cheats/clients will result in an instant ban.
3. When other players die, dont pick up their loot.
4. Be nice, bullying is allowed though

Shop rules:
1. Stealing from a shop will also get you banned, this includes taking things then replacing them later.
2. Do not sell the same item somebody else is selling, you can cooperate with them.
3. Do not vandalize another shop.

Operator rules:
1. You can only go into creative and get your stuff back after you've died IF the reason you died was from a glitch or lag.
2. Teleporting is only allowed IF a player gets stuck (from a glitch) and needs to be moved quickly. This also means you cant use spectator mode as a form of transportation
3. Do not abuse time and weather commands
4. Using commands to build permanent structures is prohibited
5. Bullying is still allowed
