What is it? John F. Kennedy was assasinated on November 22nd, 1963, while riding in the presidential limousine in Dallas, Texas. Former Marine Lee Harvey Oswald ambushed JFK from a nearby building, fatally wounding him as well as Senator John Conally. JFK was pronounced dead about 30 minute after the wound but Conally was able to recover. Oswald was arrested with charges for murder but on live TV, Oswald was shot by Jack Ruby.

Major Cause: JFK was a strong advocate of Civil Rights movements, a possible reason why he was assassinated was because he supported that change, in which some people who were still racist did not approve of.
Major Effect: Lyndon B. Johnson was sworn in and Congress and Johnson was able to pursue many of the Civil Rights legislation that JFK had planned to do within his presidency, such as the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
