Who? The Kansas-Nebraska Act was drafted by Stephen Douglas and passed through the US Congress.
What? The Compromise established Kansas and Nebraska as territories. Violence erupted between pro-slavery and anti-slavery supporters in Kansas due to the Compromise of 1850. People flooded into the state to vote on slavery issue, and nearly 200 people died.
When? The Kansas-Nebraska Act was passed in 1854
Where? It was passed in the Senate and affected Kansas and Nebraska.
Why important? It was important because it showed the problems with popular sovereignty. Although it looked good on paper, it did not work in real situations.
