On a quick little break from doing fun stuff together, I decided to make myself some tea. It was a simple bag of Orange Pekoe. I also like to add a little bit of milk and sugar into my tea. This got me thinking of how even this might be an impact of globalization on the environment. Tea leaves are grown in China and other Asian countries for one thing, but I was more focused on the sugar in my tea. Sugar comes from sugar cane which again is grown in other parts of the world, and then processed to make the granulated stuff that goes into tea. This requires the "stripping of resources for universal benefit" which is one of the environmental impacts of globalization that affected me today.
