The first assembly of the League of Nations was held in Geneva. The League of Nations was the first worldwide intergovernmental organisation whose principal mission was to maintain world peace. It was set-up on 10 January 1920 following the Paris Peace Conference that had ended World War I by 42 founding member states. After World War II, the League was replaced by the United Nations.
