1 sett 1616 anni - The First Javician Colony is established in Soleia
Descrizione:
The colony was settled by Atobastic refugees from Epixen who were seeking a better life elsewhere. The refugees first asked the city's lord for an endorsement for a trading company so that the company could grant them the ship and passage route. Once obtaining the endorsement, the Javíkãṡwĩ Trading Company had to request a formal charter from the Emperor of Javicia, Emperor Xerin III, who luckily had been wanting to begin colonizing the new world and so he agreed to the charter.
The refugees then departed 3 months later than they had wanted due to company issues with the boat and such. Despite the issues, the 54 refugees set off on April 15, 1616 and landed on September 1, 1616 on the Southern Coast of the Ikèna Peninsula in Northern Soleia. Only 33 of the original 54 settlers survived the journey, making their first few years extremely difficult.
Once landed, the settlers built a few houses and a dock to harbor their vessels, and then they constructed a farm, but they did not build a wall. They did not believe that there were any groups around them, but they figured out fairly quickly. After about 2 weeks since they landed, the settlers were met by three native Ikena people from the nearby Alkya tribe. These natives approached the Yuerokians with gifts and in return, the settlers gave them a few gifts of their own. So, a trade began between the two groups for a few months and the natives taught the settlers how to farm certain crops before the winter which was fast approaching.
When winter arrived, the settlers went from 35 to about 12 by the end of the season, drastically limiting them in all ways. The winter was harsh and it wasted all of the settlers' crops and gave many frostbite. After the winter, they sent a message to Emperor Xerin III, asking for more people, more food, and domesticated animals, primarily chickens and hogs. Issues had started to arise between the settlers and the natives over food as the natives were not willing to give them food despite the critical conditions the settlers were facing. The tensions began to rose and eventually led to actual violence with a native being shot by one of the settlers, Rikjoert Kyèlaic. In response, the natives attacked the settlement, killing 5 settlers. Kyèlaic became the settlement's leader after the attack and shifted focus on building walls around their homes.
Xerin III received the letter and demanded the Javíkãṡwĩ Trading Company to prepare for another journey to Soleia, but this time with 3 ships, carrying 20 pigs, 30 chickens, over 100 pieces of grain and seeds, and around 100 new settlers, all primarily Atobastic refugees from Southern and Northern Javicia. These settlers arrived by late April of 1617, which the conflict between the settlement, called the Javíkãṡwĩ Colony, and the Ikena natives had been ongoing for about 2 months. Walls had been built and had been protecting the settlement since the first few initial attacks and with the increase in people, newer walls had to be constructed to allow for more buildings and larger farms. With the influx in people, Javik Kyèlaic orchestrated a large raid on the Alkyan village which went very well, with them obtaining numerous axes and spears, dozens of crops, and plenty of supplies. Although, they did kill about 30 natives and took the 3 daughters of the chief hostage. This raid, known as the 1617 Raid of Alkya, was the catalyst for the 1st Simèsèntana War.
