Fritz Plfeumer invented magnetic tape in 1928 in Germany. The magnetic tape was made of Ferric Oxide covering a tape of paper. This allowed recorded audio to be cut with scissors and stuck back together with glue, this allowed people to edit recorded audio for the first time ever.
