24 gen 1776 anni - Declaration of Independence
Descrizione:
The Declaration of Independence was written in 1776, July 4 by Thomas Jeferson. The Declaration of Independence was the document that formally advised the King of England that the colonies were now an independent nation. However, although the document mentioned democratic principles, it failed to include everyone since it only meant that white men had inalienable rights.
Although the new American government claimed to be democratic, they truly weren't since it discriminated against people. The Declaration of Independence declared that men had inalienable rights that no one could take away from them, yet they only refered to white men who owned land when they stated that. If the government were to be a true democratic government, then all men, white and black, and women, would have equal rights. This document was a step closer to becoming a truly democratic nation, however, much more steps needed to be taken in order to become one.
